MANILA, Philippines—The Manila Science High School (MaSci) building was burglarized Monday by thieves who looted the school of a large stack of science books and computer equipment.

Manila Police District (MPD) investigators said the school lost 10 Physics books; 6 Biology books; and an Organic Chemistry book—all estimated to cost P16,000—to the burglars, who broke into the science training room at the second floor of the MaSci building at the corner of Taft Avenue and Padre Faura Street in Ermita.

The robbers also took some P30,000 worth of computer equipment, including monitors, a processor, and a DVD-ROM drive.

PO2 Eugene Quilates, case investigator of the MPD Ermita police station 5, said in his report that the robbery could have happened sometime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, with school out for the summer.

He pointed out that Ferdinand Bautista, the science department officer-in-charge, only discovered the break-in at around 5 p.m. when he and a colleague went to the science training room and found the door ajar.

A subsequent inventory, Quilates said, revealed several books missing from the shelves and electronic equipment cannibalized of their parts.

MPD Station 5 operatives are conducting follow-up operations for the identification of the burglars and the possible recovery of the stolen items.

Those books are really bulky (Campbell’s Biology, er, is like a med reference book in size), I can’t imagine how those thieves got away with that load. Did they just walk away like that in Taft Ave. in broad daylight (8 a.m. and 3 p.m.)? Something smells fishy…

Pap goes POP!

April 23, 2009

Pap likes David Archuleta. Yeah, u read it right; I know he’s cool… We were watching the Idol results night show and little David was the guest Idol alumni. He sang ‘Touch My Hand’ and it sounded just okie (Cookie’s performance weeks ago was a yeah!). But Pap, who haven’t watched season 7 because he was somewhere in the middle of Atlantic ocean last year, surprisingly liked Archu’s vocals. And then mom, quick to defend David Cook’s crown, was like, ‘Cook’s way better’. But at that moment I knew better than to join their conversation. I was thinking how my parents came to love pop culture and the current trends… a level up than I do. But I guess I don’t need to think about it after all. They have this couple shirt (which I think is chessy) with “I’m not old. I’m a recycled teenager.” banner emblazoned across. And it explains it all prety well. They’re cool. That’s it.

Anyway, Lil and Anoop were sent off. Yey! Matt G’s still hanging on… and surprisingly I like Adam now. I finally get it why people are all raving about Glambert. I got his studio recording of ‘If I Can’t Have You’ and it was all good. And Kris’s recording was great, as well. I think they would do good next week.

Gotta go. I’m sick.
